Telangana's cuisine
Telangana’s cuisine is always enjoyed with hot,spicy and tangy flavours. Coastal Andhra,rayalseema and Telangana have similar cuisines but different due the location and people.
Breakfast
Telangana’s breakfast is always mouth watering no matter what.Feeling hungry? No problem,let us go and enjoy the traditional Telangana breakfast.
There is so much variety, soft idlis, Upma and crispy dosas with a good cup of tea,coffee or milk. Still confused? Idli is a urad dal and rice based steamed dumplings with spicy chutneys and sprinkled karrap pods or chutney and sambar. Dosa is a rice and urad based pancake or crepe eaten with chutney and sambar. Some varieties of dosa are Minapattu, Pesarattu,dibba Attu, atukulu and rava dosa. Upma too comes in a lot of varieties:Godhuma uppindi,uppudu uppindi,saggubiyyam and semiya. Vada is dish made in the shape of a ball from ground pulses.Garelu,Punugulu,Gunta Punugulu,saggubiyyam Punugulu etc are some types of vada. |

Lunch and dinner
Hungry again? You are right in time for lunch.You are going to have your lunch from a banana leaf,it is done so traditionally.The Pappu or dal and koora are placed to the right.Spicy pickles, pachadi, pappulu podi and neyyi or ghee to the left,Pulihora and Garelu on the top right.The rice is placed in the middle.
Go on, start by eating the pickle, spicy right? Now try the Pappu before it becomes cold, then the koora.Now try the spicy and hot rasam or Charu it will be delicious.To cool your body,eat some perugu or majjiga. For dessert, you can have Pootharekulu, Sakinalu , Kajja Kai, Sunudalu or Bindi laddu, mouth watering right? Hope you filled your stomach with some delicious and exotic food of Telangana. |
